A young woman posing for pictures with a pile of cash has landed her in a drug rehabilitation centre.
Her boyfriend, who controls a drug trafficking gang, along with his men, are facing court charges for their crimes.
The twenty-something woman, surnamed Fu, a guest relations officer at a nightclub in Zhenjiang city of East China's Jiangsu province, was arrested by police for taking drugs. Her cellphone contained several pictures of her-old posing with a large amount of cash.
It was reported that Fu also posted the photographs on the Internet. "She took the pictures to show off to her friends," said a police spokesman from Jingkou narcotics branch.
Suspicious of her wealth, the cops launched a secret investigation into the source of the 200,000 (RM98,134) cash and found that they belonged to Fu's lover, a drug trafficker in his 50s identified only as Chen.
Police also found that Chen was the leader of a drug gang active in Fujian and Jiangsu province.
After weeks of collecting evidence, Zhejiang police flagged down Chen's Buick car at a toll plaza of Ning-Hang Expressway, when he was heading home after a drug deal in Fujian province, about 1,400km away.
Chen was arrested after police seized some drug taking tools and more than 1kg of methamphetamine from his car. Two of his gang members were also nabbed in subsequent operations.
He has three drug-related convictions and has already been at a rehabilitation centre.
